Professor Gharib's research interests span fundamental fluid mechanics, biomechanics and medical engineering, aerospace and autonomous systems, and bio-inspired engineering. His work encompasses vortex dynamics, active and passive flow control, biological propulsion, advanced flow-imaging diagnostics, intelligent autonomous flight, multimodal robotic systems, and AI-assisted technologies.
His biomechanics and medical engineering research focuses on understanding the physical principles governing physiological systems and translating these insights into innovative diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. Current areas include cardiovascular hemodynamics and wave dynamics, cardiovascular and ocular health monitoring, bio-inspired prosthetic heart valves, drug-delivery technologies, and robotic and autonomous medical systems.
